What courses can I do after this?
It is possible for students to progress on to the Level 3 Certificate / National Foundation Diploma in Health and Social Care if they have demonstrated good attendance, motivation and commitment.
What jobs can I get?
Students may be able to progress into a range of job roles within the health and social care sector such as:
- Care Support Workers in Adult Residential Settings
- Healthcare Assistants in Community, Primary Care and Acute Health Environments
- Care Support Workers in Domiciliary Services, Supported Living or Day Services
- Community-Based Support Workers.
What do I need to apply
To do this course you should have...
You will require a minimum of 4 GCSE at grades 3-9 which Include English and Maths. Science will also be required for progression onto some health and social care courses including Nursing, Midwifery and Paramedic Science.
Alternatively, students must have successfully completed a relevant Level 1 qualification and have achieved Level 1 Functional skill in English and Maths.
What about work experience?
Students will be required to complete a minimum of 30 hours of placement in a Real Work Environment.
Towards the end of the summer term, if students are up to date with their course, including English and Maths, they may be able to go out and attend a work placement in a Health and Social Care setting, ready for when they progress onto Level 3 Health and Social Care.

More about the course
Students will be timetabled in college for three days during the week, and one day at placement. Students will be required to complete some work outside of the college timetable.
Students may have the opportunity to attend placement for block weeks towards the end of the course.
