Two College Barbering students recently volunteered to help the homeless charity Second Chance deliver a special event in the Street Barbers & Tattoo Shop in Boscombe. The students, Mark Timms and Shannon McKenzie, helped in providing around 30 free haircuts to vulnerable people from across the area.

The engineering team at Bournemouth & Poole College are celebrating after achieving two industry accreditations. Following a visit from a panel of industry experts from the Institution of Engineering Designers (IED), which involved speaking to lecturers and current students, the College received the IED’s accreditation, which can be awarded to colleges and universities which run higher education courses to train professional engineers.

Bournemouth & Poole College has confirmed its commitment to staff and students by signing up to a brand new national mental health and wellbeing charter - created by the Association of Colleges (AoC) in conjunction with mental health experts.

Earlier this month the College held its annual CGI EXPO. The EXPO is a celebration of students’ achievements, showcasing their work in the field of Computer Generated Imagery (CGI) covering modelling, animation and architectural visualisation. Students from the Foundation Degree and BSc (Hons) in CGI presented their work to friends, family and representatives from industry, with many final year students securing either a one-year placement or full-time employment within the industry.

Bournemouth & Poole College is running a summer competition to win an electronics bundle.

Dorset residents can collect a free Bournemouth & Poole College mascot from the reception desks of the Lansdowne in Bournemouth and North Road in Poole sites, before taking a photo of the toy in a location with a ‘Summer holiday’ theme.
