Job opportunities could include working as a junior Beauty Therapist or trainee hair stylist in a salon. This course can enable you to progress onto further Beauty courses here at the College.
What do I need to apply
To do this course you should have...
You will need to achieve 3 GCSEs grades including English and maths grades 3-2 (formerly D-F). Alternatively successful completion of a Foundation Entry Level 3 qualification and have achieved an Entry Level 3 Functional Skill in English and maths. Each applicant will be assessed on their individual merits, and a keen interest & self motivation in Beauty as a career is essential.
What about work experience?
Each learner will be expected to work within our 'Renew salons' and dispensary area, to gain valuable Customer care skills. All students will also complete a voluntary industry workplacement in an external local salon for a minimum of 1 week, which you will need to organise yourself.

Course Content
You will develop a range of practical skills and underpinning knowledge of the theory which will be mainly taught in The College's salons.
Subjects studied include:
- Personal career planning
- Teamwork skills
- Take part in an activity
- Employment rights, contracts and pay
- Skills used in reading for meaning
- Introduction to Health and Safety
- Salon reception duties
- Basic skin care
English and Maths GCSE and functional skills will also be integrated into your study programme.
