What courses can I do after this?
This is a good programme for those wishing to go into employment in the hairdressing industry as a Junior Stylist, then to progress onto Apprentice or Level 3 F-time at The College. You will be advised which is most suitable for you as you progress within the programme.
What jobs can I get?
Working in our commercial training salons, you will gain valuable experience in offering a professional salon service, including customer care, client consultation and professional cutting and colouring techniques, in a realistic working environment. The programme will give you the skills to become a Junior Stylist.
What do I need to apply
To do this course you should have...
You will require a minimum of 4 GCSEs including English and maths grades 9-3 (formerly A*-D) preferably also including a combined science qualification. Alternatively successful completion of a relevant Level 1 vocational qualification and Level 1 Functional Skill in English and maths.
What about work experience?
You will be required to complete a minimum of 45-60 days Work Experience in a industry related working environment

This programme places a strong emphasis on technical skills. You will study the following units:
Working in the hair industry
Follow Health and Safety practice in the salon
Client consultation for hair services
Shampooing and condition the hair and scalp
Promote produces and services in the salon
Cut womens hair
Colour and lighten hair
The art of dressing hair
Create an image based on a theme within the hair sector
Underpinning knowledge
As part of your timetable you may be required to work one evening a week in one of The College's Lee Stafford Hairdressing salons,
