What courses can I do after this?
On completion of this course, you could progress onto the UAL Level 2 Diploma in Art and Design or there are options to go into employment/further training in an art or design-related field.
What jobs can I get?
On this course, you will learn basic art and design skills that will enable you to progress to another higher qualification course. Studying Functional skills English and Maths will provide you with the skills to help you apply for employment.
What do I need to apply
To do this course you should have...
You will need to achieve 5 GCSEs including English and Maths Grades 3-1 (formerly GCSE Grades D-G) and the successful completion of a Foundation Entry Level 3 qualification and have achieved an Entry Level 3 Functional Skill in English and Maths.
We would also require a portfolio of current artwork. This could be examples of drawings, paintings, sculpture, photography, textiles, design etc...

This course has studio fees of £80.00 payable at enrolment (mentioned above). This covers all materials used and contributes to the cost of an educational visit.
Course content
Course Content
During the course you will study in the following areas of art and design.
• Mixed Media
• Drawing and Illustration
• Digital Design
• 3D and Surface Pattern
• Printmaking
• Painting
• 2D and 3D Design
You will have a weekly tutorial where your work will be looked at and monitored. Assessments take place at the end of each project and you will receive continuous support and feedback on your progress via tutorial. Your course will include the study of both Functional skills in English and Mathematics at an appropriate level.
There will be opportunities for consultations with parents/guardians to discuss relevant target setting and achievements.

You will have access to Bournemouth and Poole College’s Virtual Learning Eenvironment (VLE) which can be accessed from any computer with internet access (at home, libraries or Bournemouth and Poole College) to submit assignments, coursework and download course materials and handouts etc.
