What courses can I do after this?
On completion of this qualification students may choose to progress to Higher Education to further their training at a university or conservatoire, some students may decide to stay and complete a FdA in performing arts with us. Others may use this course as a direct route into employment participating in open auditions. Students may also wish to explore specific routes linked with dance such as Physiotherapy, Sports Massage, Production and Events.
What jobs can I get?
There is a wide variety of careers in dance including, performance, teaching, community work, dance movement therapy, film, stage, choreographing, leisure, and cruise ship. Along the way you may even find other interests such as Producing, Event Management Sports Massage and Personal Training. - All whilst being fully supported with advice by our experienced team.
You will gain transferable skills that will enable you to find work in various industries i.e. Customer Services, Project Management, Media, Events, Health and Fitness, Producing, Advertising, Marketing, Business and Administration.
What do I need to apply
To do this course you should have...
You will require a minimum of 5 GCSEs at grades 9-4 (formerly A* - C) including English and maths. Alternatively successful completion of a relevant Level 2 qualification and have achieved a Level 2 Functional Skill in English and maths.

Course Content
This course offers a comprehensive introduction and exploration of dance skills and performance in the form of practical workshops and skills development. You will regularly have the opportunity to work on productions within our in-house theatre such as: narrative lead, showcases, cabaret, and musical theatre dance. You will also have the opportunity to perform externally in community projects to showcase skills acquired throughout the two years. In addition, you will learn about the production process and see and analyse theatre work in the Jellicoe theatre. During the course you will develop your ability to respond to dance, contemporary theatre and musical theatre shows by seeing regular performances in the Jellicoe theatre to improve your understanding of Social and cultural contexts of the performing and dance industry.
You should have a reasonable level of fitness and motivation is essential. There is considerable emphasis on group work. All students are expected to be committed to the group and to the discipline of rehearsal and performance.

More about the course
You will have the opportunity to perform in the brand new Jellicoe Theatre which is a fully functioning venue. There are at least 22 productions per year with a variety of shows including Musicals, Dance Shows, Classical and Contemporary Plays, all of which you will attend as part of your course.
The Dance Studio at North Road is fully equipped with sound, lights and sprung flooring which will accommodate practical sessions.
The College prides itself on its facilities, which include The New Jellicoe Theatre at North Road and a variety of rehearsal studios and working spaces.
You are also encouraged to use the Performing Arts Learning Resource Centre which have an extensive selection of books, periodicals, journals, magazines and student access to the Internet.
