What courses can I do after this?
Upon completion of the Level 2 Maritime you have a number of options, firstly is to progress up into our Level 3 Diploma in Maritime Studies: Shipping and Maritime Operations (Engineering). You can take the skills learned so far and start an apprenticeship in either a Marine, Automotive, Aviation, or Engineering Industry as the skill set gained is so comprehensive it leads to all of these different options. If you stay with the Level 3 course you can keep studying with us and in and move into a degree-level apprenticeship or a Cadetship.
What jobs can I get?
Apprenticeship in a Maritime role, (or Automotive, Aviation, Engineering).
After this, the world is your oyster at sea or on land. You would be on the path to being an Electrician or Engineer living and working at sea or be shoreside repairing or making pleasure crafts or heavy industry vessels.
What do I need to apply
To do this course you should have...
You will require a minimum of Grade 4 in mathematics and 3 GCSEs in Grades A*-D (9-3) including English.
Alternatively, successfully completing a relevant Level 1 qualification and achieving a Level 2 Functional Skill in maths and a Level 1 Functional Skill in English.
What about work experience?
Work experience is a fundamental part of the study program and the college will assist you in finding meaningful work experience this should be a minimum of 30 hours per year to be completed outside of your college hours/days.

Course Content
In the first year we will be working on the following units:
- Working Safely in an Engineering Environment
- Producing Components Using Hand-Fitting Techniques
- Carrying Out Engineering Activities Efficiently and Effectively
- Using and Communicating Technical Information
- Preparing and Using Lathes for Turning Operations
In your second year, you will study the following units:
- General Fabrication and Welding Applications
- Forming and Assembling Pipework System
- Marine Vessel Plant Maintenance
- Maintaining Electrical Equipment/Systems

More about the course
You will need to provide suitable overalls/uniform and safety boots which must always be worn at all times in the workshops, you will need to bring pens and an A4 notebook to keep a record of your learning.
Students will be expected to complete an additional four hours minimum of self-study each week.
There is a £138 per year materials fee to be paid at enrolment.
