Becoming a Member of the Board

The Board Member role is concerned with driving issues at strategic level. You will bring an outside perspective on the running of the College, to ask the what, why, how and when of our Executive Team.

Board Members are innovative and dynamic individuals who will share in the College’s vision and help us deliver our ambitions.

We are currently looking to recruit a new Board Member with experience in any of the following areas: Estates, Legal, Engineering and Defence.

The Board Member role is voluntary, although travel expenses will be reimbursed. The Board holds three scheduled meetings a year, these meetings are generally held at our North Road campus on a Wednesday or Thursday evening. In addition to Board Meetings, members are expected to attend an annual Board Planning Day, support Board Committees and undertake regular learning walks.   

Board Members are wholeheartedly committed to the College vision and values, and set a clear strategic direction. Board Members give a great deal to, and gain a great deal from, their work for the College. We will be drawing on your talents and experience to the benefit of the College but there are many things that you will gain from becoming a Board Member. Not only will you feel a sense of making a difference to the lives of young people and the community, but your responsibilities will require you to absorb a wide range of issues, some outside of your current experiences, which can enhance your own career development.
