On Tuesday 3rd March, Bournemouth & Poole College hosted the South West regional heat of Johnstone’s Trade Young Painter of the Year.
Comprised of seven regional heats held up and down the country, the Johnstone’s Trade Young Painter of the Year Competition is a prestigious painting and decorating competition which celebrates young talent.
7 students from Bournemouth & Poole College took part in the regional heat, alongside contestants from City College Plymouth and the Isle of Wight College. The students had 6 hours to complete an original design, following step by step instructions. The intricate drawing and painting challenge, devised by Johnstone Trade’s senior technicians, aims to test the students’ abilities and knowledge of what they have learnt during their course.
Following the judging, Maria Andrews from Bournemouth & Poole College was selected as runner-up. The winning student was from City College Plymouth. The winners and runners-up from each regional heat received a cash reward, as well as a fantastic prize bundle of top-quality decorating tools from a range of brands.
The Painting and Decorating team at Bournemouth & Poole College said “We are delighted to have been able to host the South West regional heat of Johnstone’s Trade Young Painter of the Year.
