Alexandra Gough celebrates the end of her time at Bournemouth & Poole College today as her Level 3 Engineering programme finishes.
Alexandra has been studying Engineering at The College, completing her Level 1, 2 and 3 qualifications with us. Alongside those, she took her English and Maths qualifications too.
Alexandra said, “I have really enjoyed the courses. They’ve given me a new set of skills and helped me see new career options I never knew I had.”
Her goal is to become a machinist – working on lathes and milling machines in a corporate setting. Her experience at The College has set her up perfectly for this as she used these machines and more in our excellent engineering facilities.
Alexandra considered taking an apprenticeship after her fulltime level 2 qualification, but ultimately decided to continue at The College full time to level 3.
She said, “The teachers are so nice and helpful, and getting to The College is easy from where I live on public transport. The level 3 course has been most difficult, especially CAD (Computer Aided Design), but the teachers were always there to give me a bit of extra help when I needed it.”
When asked how she would describe her time at The College in one word, she said “challenging”. The College’s Engineering courses provide an excellent start to a career in engineering and, although challenging, do lead to success.
Bournemouth & Poole College can’t wait to see where Alexandra’s career takes her and look forward to hearing from her in the future.
